Do You Have Any Friends Who Don't Know Jesus? A Pastor's Honest Confession

In today's Daily Hope, Pastor John S. Dickerson begins with a confession. Before he was a pastor, he was a journalist. His coworkers were his friends, they came from many different beliefs and backgrounds, and they all knew he was a devoted follower of Jesus. He misses those friendships and the dinners at their homes. Now, with a full ministry and kids he is trying to disciple, it takes real intentionality and discipline to build friendships with people who do not know Jesus. Pastor John returns to Luke 5, where Jesus says he came for those who know they are sinners and need to repent. If you work or study around people who do not follow Christ, he encourages you to see it as a privilege and an opportunity to shine the light of Christ. If you are surrounded by believers, he asks whether you need to change your rhythms or simply open your eyes at the coffee shop, the gym, and the grocery store. Since beginning this revival journey, praying through a salvation prayer list has opened his eyes to people he now sees with brokenhearted boldness. And he knows he still has room to grow.
