Do You Really Love Jesus, or Just Love People Liking You? (Peter's Hardest Question)
In today's Daily Hope, Pastor John S. Dickerson unpacks John 21, right after the charcoal fire breakfast, where Jesus asks Peter three times, do you love me? Pastor Dickerson explains that Jesus isn't asking if Peter loves Him more than the other disciples do, He's asking if Peter loves Him more than he loves being liked, more than he fears what people think of him. Each time Peter says yes, Jesus gives him the same assignment: feed my sheep. Pastor Dickerson points out something convicting: those sheep are other Christians, other churches, including the ones that do things differently than we do. He's seen people claim to love the church while using their words to tear it down, and says that reveals they don't actually love the church, or the Lord, as much as they think. Repentance always precedes revival, and loving Christ's people well is one way that repentance shows up. Text "DAILY" to 71093 to receive Daily Hope videos sent to your phone every day.
