Feel Like You've Given Up on Yourself? Jesus Calls Peter Again
In today's Daily Hope, Pastor John S. Dickerson invites you to think of Peter as a model for yourself. Looking back on Peter's story, from the day Jesus calls him to the day he is named the rock on which the church will be built, Pastor John reminds us that Peter's walk had ups and downs. Some moments were wonderful, and some felt weird and confusing. Some listeners may be right where Peter was later: you have journeyed with Jesus, but you have given up on yourself, and Jesus is recalling you to drop your nets again and go all in. Pastor John then lets Scripture speak, reading Luke 5. Jesus teaches from Peter's boat on the Sea of Galilee, then tells Peter, who has caught nothing all night, to go out where it is deeper. Peter obeys even though it does not make sense, and the nets fill until they begin to tear. Peter falls to his knees, calling himself a sinful man, and Jesus says do not be afraid, from now on you will be fishing for people. They leave everything and follow him. Tomorrow, Pastor John reads the bookend passage, Peter's restoration in John 21. Text "DAILY" to 71093 to receive Daily Hope videos sent to your phone every day.
