The Train Logbook
In 1987, conductor Thomas Vale vanished during a midnight train journey, leaving behind his coat, wallet, and keys. Decades later, an old railway logbook is discovered containing his final entry: an unscheduled passenger boarded near Mile 42, followed by a chilling warning—“Do not send anyone back alone.”
The reopened investigation reveals that Thomas had noticed suspicious activity near a freight warehouse connected to illegal shipments. His remains are eventually found near the abandoned site, along with evidence suggesting his disappearance was no accident.
The truth arrives thirty-nine years late, but Thomas’s final note takes on a deeper meaning. It was not simply a record of danger—it was an attempt to protect whoever might come after him.
