Peru's Darkest Time.. The Cult That Declared War - THE SHINING PATH

For over a decade, Peru was caught between two brutal forces. The Shining Path, led by former philosophy professor Abimael Guzmán, promised revolution through violence, targeting anyone they believed stood in the way of their vision. Villages were terrorized, public executions became common, and thousands of innocent people were trapped in a conflict they never chose.

In this episode of You Can't Unhear, we explore the rise of the Shining Path, the ideology that fueled one of Latin America's deadliest insurgencies, the massacres that devastated rural Peru, the courage of those who resisted, and how an entire nation was left scarred by fear, extremism, and violence.
