Wild Rivers Film Radio: An Act of War / A Mission of Peace – A Brookings Story Revisited

In this episode of Wild Rivers Film Radio, host Robert Naugle welcomes Kat Liddell and Greg Bailey to discuss An Act of War / A Mission of Peace, a short documentary featured in Season Three of Jeremy Maupin’s Refresh Quest. The film revisits a remarkable and little-known chapter of World War II history that unfolded in Brookings, Oregon—and the extraordinary story of reconciliation that followed.

Robert talks with Greg about his behind-the-scenes experience serving as guide, cameraman, and production assistant, helping the filmmaking team bring this local history to life. Kat shares her role as curator and storyteller, preserving the history of the only enemy aircraft bombing of the continental United States during World War II and the lasting relationship between Brookings and Japanese pilot Nobuo Fujita. Together, they explore how preserving local history through film can transform an act of war into a powerful story of friendship, forgiveness, and peace.
