While the world has focused on Israel’s invasion and occupation of the Gaza Strip, other disputed territories on Israel’s borders have started heating up. Last week, the Israeli government approved a land registration system to facilitate new settlements in the West Bank. The Palestinian Authority decried the move, calling it a de-facto annexation of the disputed territory and a violation of international law. For its part, Israeli authorities state the registration system is an administrative measure of little consequence.
