Travel approximately 5 miles due east from where I live and you will discover the Chesapeake Bay with its many inlets and tributaries – just the sort of waterway pirates in the 17th and 18th centuries navigated with the intent of discovering (pilfering) and burying treasures. Fast forward to today. Those of us who live near the Bay no longer fear pirates, but we still navigate the area discovering and burying treasures legally.
