Banking in Canada

Every country has banks, but banks operate differently in every country. In this episode, Andrew and Maura sit down for a chat about banking in Canada. Join them as they talk about opening their first bank accounts, technological advances in banking, and annoying bank fees!   Maura: Now, something else that maybe happens more often, because, as we said, cheques are not being written as often as they used to be, is the extra fees for using bank machines that are not affiliated with your bank. So if I am a member at bank number one and I use my card at the ATM for bank number two, I have to pay an extra fee. There are also special machines that are not connected to any bank, and at those machines you also have to pay an extra fee. Andrew:  Mmhmm. I hate getting dinged. It’s so annoying.
