WalkJoy - Restoring Neuropathic Mobility. Catch Them Before They Fall. Do you have Peripheral Neuropathy and problems with walking, balance and foot health. Need to reduce your chances of falling, then WalkJoy may be the answer. I do and that is why this device review was so important to me. I have had Neuropathy for the last two years and medication seems to help most symptoms but still have the occasional balance and falling issues when I can not feel my feet on uneven ground. This is an issue because I am borderline Diabetic and took a some medications that may have triggered the Neuropathy. I get the burning hands from it but my feet have always just felt just numb. By restoring more normal walking you may be able to increase mobility and decrease these issues. Your brain constantly uses many inputs that enable you to walk, which is called a "feedback loop". Vision, balance, memory, feeling from the bottom of your feet and when they touch the ground are some of the important ones. When Peripheral Neuropathy diminishes the feeling in your feet, it breaks the feedback loop and hampers your balance and walking. The great news is that your brain doesn't forget how to walk. This stimulates alternative healthy nerves below your knee that send information to the brain, which substitute for the nerves in your feet that are damaged. This recompletes the feedback loop. Now you're walking again! How it works - It replaces the lost sensation of your foot striking the ground by providing a signal to healthy nerves around your knee. The new signal enables your brain to respond as if there is no loss of sensation in your feet. Most patients see benefits within 30 to 50 steps and start to regain strength after several weeks of increased activity. Many people tell us they forget they are wearing the devices after only a brief amount of time. Each unit contains a small computer and sensors that measure the angle and speed during your leg movement. As your foot strikes the ground, WalkJoy provides a vibrating or buzzing sensation to the nerves below your knee. These nerves have a dedicated pathway to your brain and are not affected by Peripheral Neuropathy. In other words, the buzzing sensation replaces the pressure feeling you used to have when your foot struck the ground. Don't worry – you will notice it at first, but it is quiet, and, after a while, you won't even know it's there. Quality of Life - It can increase your safety, mobility, and socialization. Measure Improvement - It can store some of your walking data so that your therapist or doctor can track improvement in the way you walk. Upon unboxing I was impressed. This device has been semi useful for my issues of balance. Works great on my right leg and balance issues. Having knee problems and needing a knee replacement I can not wear it all the time on my left leg due to pain it causes. I would still give them a 4 out of 5 on my buy list. They say it may not work for everyone or you may have knee pain issues that may keep you from using it as it does dig in a little. Maybe a little more padding on back side of device would help or I am now trying it over my jeans on that leg to see if it helps. Very simple to put on with Velcro straps and easy button push to activate or turn off. Has USB charging and seems to have great battery life.
