01/01/17 – “The Temple, Two Witnesses and the 7th Trumpet” (Revelation 11) - Freedom Biker Church Fayetteville

Revelation 11 – The Temple, Two Witnesses… and Seventh Trumpet.   Chapter 11 is a continuation of Chapter 10.   John is given the scroll to eat and then….   Revelation 11: 1-2a– NIV – I was given a reed like a measuring rod and was told, “Go and measure the temple of God and the altar, with its worshipers. 2 But exclude the outer court; do not measure it, because it has been given to the Gentiles. They will trample on the holy city for 42 months.   What Temple and Why? The only Temple John knew was destroyed in 70 AD by the Romans.  It’s not THAT Temple.   I don’t think it’s symbolic…  a figure of speech and it doesn’t represent the Church, the church is raptured.   This isn’t a Temple in Heaven.  Rev. 21:22 states there is no temple in Heaven.  The Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its Temple.   It’s a future Temple that stands in the Tribulation. * Daniel 9:26-27 – Daniel prophecies the Anti-Christ will bring peace. He will make a treaty with Israel in which they will rebuild the Temple and begin to practice their Old Test. sacrifices and worship.   This treaty with Israel is the beginning of the 7 year Tribulation period.   But after 3.5 years he breaks the treaty…   * 24:15-26 Jesus mentions the abomination of desolation in the Holy Place (Temple) by the Anti-Christ.   * Paul writes of it in 2 Thess. 2:3-4 when he says the Anti-Christ exalts himself as God, demands to be worshipped and takes his seat in the Temple of God. Why Measure the Temple?  Why do you measure or survey something?   Is reveals Ownership, Boundaries, Value, Truth… and to Measure means to Judge.   Keep in mind the Church has been raptured from the earth.  There are 144,000 sealed by God to proclaim the Gospel and God is doing everything He can to reach the people of Israel so they can be saved!   HOWEVER… Judgment, God’s Righteousness and Justice is coming!    Rev. 11:2a-13 NIV – 3 And I will appoint my two witnesses, and they will prophesy for 1,260 days, clothed in sackcloth.”4 They are “the two olive trees” and the two lampstands, and “they stand before the Lord of the earth.” (Zech. 4:3, 11, 14) 5 If anyone tries to harm them, fire comes from their mouths and devours their enemies. This is how anyone who wants to harm them must die.6 They have power to shut up the heavens so that it will not rain during the time they are prophesying; and they have power to turn the waters into blood and to strike the earth with every kind of plague as often as they want. 7 Now when they have finished their testimony, the beast that comes up from the Abyss will attack them, and overpower and kill them.8 Their bodies will lie in the public square of the great city—which is figuratively called Sodom and Egypt—where also their Lord was crucified. 9 For three and a half days some from every people, tribe, language and nation will gaze on their bodies and refuse them burial. 10 The inhabitants of the earth will gloat over them and will celebrate by sending each other gifts, because these two prophets had tormented those who live on the earth.11 But after the three and a half days the breath (Spirit) of life from God entered them, and they stood on their feet, and terror struck those who saw them. 12 Then they heard a loud voice from heaven saying to them, “Come up here.” And they went up to heaven in a cloud, while their enemies looked on. 13 At that very hour there was a severe earthquake and a tenth of the city collapsed. Seven thousand people were killed in the earthquake, and the survivors were terrified and gave glory to the God of heaven.   Who are these Witnesses?  There’s a lot of debate about who they are…    * Enoch, Elijah because they never died;
