Revelation 18 – 19:1-10 – The Fall of Babylon the Great Revelation 18 1:3 NIV – After this I saw another angel coming down from heaven. He had great authority, and the earth was illuminated by his splendor. 2 With a mighty voice he shouted: “‘Fallen! Fallen is Babylon the Great!’ She has become a dwelling for demons and a haunt for every impure spirit, a haunt for every unclean bird, a haunt for every unclean and detestable animal. 3 For all the nations have drunk the maddening wine of her adulteries. The kings of the earth committed adultery with her, and the merchants of the earth grew rich from her excessive luxuries.” * Babylon the Great is home for demons and every foul spirit, impure spirit, every foul vulture, and foul and dreadful animal. * Babylon the Great personifies everything that is evil – sexual immorality, idolatry, greed, pride, self-indulgence. * People of the world have turned completely away from God and are enjoying the lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes and the pride of life. “If it feels good…. Do it!” And they do it to the excess. Rev. 18:4-5 – 4 Then I heard another voice from heaven say: “‘Come out of her, my people,’ so that you will not share in her sins, so that you will not receive any of her plagues; 5 for her sins are piled up to heaven, and God has remembered her crimes. * Remember the Church has been “raptured” from the earth… God still has his 144,000 and there are some who may be still alive who have surrendered to Christ. * How are we separating ourselves from Babylon? Are we? * Does the world know, can they tell that we’re different? John 17:13-16 NLT – 13 “Now I am coming to you. I told them many things while I was with them in this world so they would be filled with my joy. 14 I have given them your word. And the world hates them because they do not belong to the world, just as I do not belong to the world. 15 I’m not asking you to take them out of the world, but to keep them safe from the evil one.16 They do not belong to this world any more than I do.17 Make them holy by your truth; teach them your word, which is truth. 18 Just as you sent me into the world, I am sending them into the world.19 And I give myself as a holy sacrifice for them so they can be made holy by your truth. John 15:18-19 NLT – 18 “If the world hates you, remember that it hated me first.19 The world would love you as one of its own if you belonged to it, but you are no longer part of the world. I chose you to come out of the world, so it hates you. Philippians 3:20 NLT – 18 For I have told you often before, and I say it again with tears in my eyes, that there are many whose conduct shows they are really enemies of the cross of Christ.19 They are headed for destruction. Their god is their appetite, they brag about shameful things, and they think only about this life here on earth. 20 But we are citizens of heaven, where the Lord Jesus Christ lives. And we are eagerly waiting for him to return as our Savior. 1 John 2:15 ESV – Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. Romans 12:1-2 NLT – And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him. 2 Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. What does our walk… our talk… our life represent? The kingdom of Babylon or the Kingdom of God!? It’s a PAPER crown compared to the Crown that Christ has for us! * What ARE we surrendered to?
