Revelation 21 – A New Heaven and Earth! Revelation 21: 1-2 NIV – Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,” for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. 2 I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. All creation was affected by sin… the heavens, earth, elements, weather patterns… and EVERYTHING will be made new. There is no more sea… the sea was a result of the sin, where God flooded the earth. Gen. 7:11 – 11 When Noah was 600 years old, on the seventeenth day of the second month, all the underground waters erupted from the earth, and the rain fell in mighty torrents from the sky. 12 The rain continued to fall for forty days and forty nights. 2 Peter 3:10-12 NLT – 10 But the day of the Lord will come as unexpectedly as a thief. Then the heavens will pass away with a terrible noise, and the very elements themselves will disappear in fire, and the earth and everything on it will be found to deserve judgment. (Burned up or destroyed.) 11 Since everything around us is going to be destroyed like this, what holy and godly lives you should live,12 looking forward to the day of God and hurrying it along. On that day, he will set the heavens on fire, and the elements will melt away in the flames. 13 But we are looking forward to the new heavens and new earth he has promised, a world filled with God’s righteousness. John sees the Holy city, a New Jerusalem coming down out of heaven from God. PREPARED as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. Prepared by who? John 14:1-3 NIV – Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. 2 My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you?3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. Rev. 21:3-5 NIV – 3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. 4 ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” 5 He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” God’s heart has always been to have an intimate “Relationship” with us! To be our God and for us to be His people and to dwell with us… Which is what God established in the Beginning! A perfect, intimate, relationship with God! He will wipe away every tear… Anything and everything you’ve every worried about, been upset over, or had a concern about! NO MORE: * Death, mourning, crying, pain, suffering, heartache… * No more Evil or Sin! (The root cause for the death, mourning, crying, pain, suffering, heartache!) * No more searching or seeking for – Happiness… Contentment… Satisfaction… Fulfillment…. Peace of heart and mind! Our way of life, of living here on earth will be eliminated. There will be NO MORE living under the curse of sin. EVERYTHING (Spiritually, Mentally, Emotionally and Physically) will be made NEW! When we give our life to Christ… the same thing is true. God doesn’t restore the old… He makes us new! The old man, old sin nature, old self, old heart dies and there’s a new man, new nature, new heart, new creation in Christ that is resurrected from “death to life!” We have a “NEW LIFE” In Christ!” 2 Corinthians 5:17 NIV – Therefore*, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! * Therefore = Vs. 15 – 15 Christ died for all so that those who live would not continue to live for themselves.
