Sacrifice – Part 2. How to be a living Sacrifice… What kind of Sacrifice are we? One that’s Living… Holy… and Pleasing to God. Romans 12:1-2 – CSB – Therefore, brothers and sisters, in view of the mercies of God, I urge you to present (offer) your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God; this is your true worship. 2 Do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may discern what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God. Today I want to share some “practical” things we can do in order to be that Living Sacrifice. * Everything we do is worthless unless we are “Surrendered” to Him. Absolute and complete Surrender. If we haven’t done that in our heart, mind, soul, body then at best these things just make us a more “religious” person. And… it’s NOT the relationship that I want or think is right with God… but the one that HE wants. James 4:7 – Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. James 4:10 – Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will exalt you. Proverbs 23:26 – My son, give me your heart, and let your eyes observe my ways. * God’s Word renews our mind! Hebrews 4:12-13 NLT – 12 For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires. 13 Nothing in all creation is hidden from God. Everything is naked and exposed before his eyes, and he is the one to whom we are accountable. Romans 10:17 NIV – Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ. John 17:17 NLT – 17 Make them holy by your truth; teach them your word, which is truth. 2 Timothy 3:16 NLT – 16 All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. 17 God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work. How are you going to get the nourishment and nutrition your body needs if you don’t eat? What happens if put the wrong things in your body… a lot of junk! We become unhealthy, we don’t function properly, we get sick and and we eventually die! Spiritually, the same thing happens to us without the Word of God! * Prayer: How do we develop the best relationship with someone? YOU SPEND TIME WITH THEM! Mark 1:35 NLT – 35 Before daybreak the next morning, Jesus got up and went out to an isolated place to pray. Why did Jesus need to pray? He needed time with the Father! He was God but he was fully human! He was tempted and tried and tested just like we are! (Hebrews 4:15) IF Jesus needed to spend time in prayer how much more do we! Do you ever wonder why PRAYER and FEEDING ON GOD’S WORD are the two hardest things for us to do! WHY!? BECAUSE IT TRANSFORMS US! And we get to know the HEART of God Himself! Our Sacrifice means nothing if we aren’t first spending time with Him to develop the right relationship. IF we aren’t Surrendered first… Luke 10:38-42 NIV – 38 As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him.39 She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said. 40 But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself?
