Road Map to Freedom – Making Disciples… Part 1 – “Be a Disciple.” We’ve put a Road Map together to make sure we’re on the right path and to make sure that we Finish Strong in Jesus Christ! Proverbs 14:12 - There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end it leads to death. (Note: The Bible is our complete Road Map, and all of these points are from God’s word.) * Freedom: True freedom exists only IN and THROUGH Jesus. * Biker: Acts 1:8… You will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria and the ends of the earth. What’s your community? Who’s your one? * Church: NOT A Church, but HIS Church. The Body of Christ, the “Called Out Ones” who are a witness to the world of who He is and what we have in Him! * Making Disciples - Doing life together with an intentionality toward being like Jesus and teaching others to do the same by our actions and words. * “Doing Life Together” – We’re Visible - Involved - Available – Friend introducing people to Jesus. Be a Friend, make a friend, bring a friend to Christ… * A “Battle-Ready” Brotherhood: We sharpen each other to be Strong in the Lord and His mighty power, able to stand against the devil’s schemes. To cross the Finish Line and Finish Strong! * Gospel: The Good News of Jesus Christ! * God Created - Man Fell (Disobeyed) - God Rescues - Jesus Restores * Prayer & Worship: Our always available, direct line and conversation with the one true living God! Worship and prayer, not something we do but a “Lifestyle!” * Bible: The “inspired” Word of God. It’s Christ himself! It’s our owners-manual for NEW LIFE IN JESUS CHRIST! Let it be REAL in your life! Read, Evaluate, Apply, Live it * Journey: Life in Christ is a “never ending” journey of growing, developing, maturing, mentoring, multiplying IN Christ to be Like Christ. Recap: Last week, “The Church” The Word Church means Ekklesia which means “an assembly” or “called out ones.” I love that definition… The “Called-Out Ones!” “Called out” from what? Satan, Sin, Self, and the world into a New Resurrected Life in Christ! (Born from above, (Born Again) thru the Holy Spirit!) Called out of the darkness into the light of Jesus Christ! (1 Peter 2:9, John 1:4) and walking in the Light of Jesus Christ. (1 John 1:7) What’s the Role, Purpose and Mission of the Church… (His Body… the Called-Out ones)? To Gather, Grow and Go! Just as Jesus was Blessed, Broken and Given for the world… We, as His Body, His “Called Out Ones” are also Blessed, Broken and Given for the world. We Gather to Grow… Grow to Go… and Go to Make Disciples! Disciples of what? We Go to make Disciples of Jesus Christ, Baptizing them and Teaching them to obey everything He has commanded us. We GO to Make Disciples… Part 1 – “Be a Disciple.” At the beginning of Jesus Ministry when He called those first guys to follow Him… what did Jesus say to them… (these were the original “Called Out Ones…”) Matthew 4:19 – Follow me Jesus said, and I will make you Fishers of Men. If we’re Following Jesus…. He’s making us… we’re Fishing for men! And the last thing Jesus said to them before He goes back to Heaven… Matthew 28:18-20 - 18 Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth.19 Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, (peoples) baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.20 Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
