God’s Word, The Bible ~ Apply it! Roadmap to Freedom ~ The Bible ~ The Word of God! Is God’s Word REAL in your life? R – Read His Word E – Evaluate It A – Apply It L – Live It READ IT! Why? 1. We Read God’s Word to KNOW HIM, to experience an intimate and personal relationship HIM! John 17:3 ~ “This is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.” 2. We Read God’s Word in order to Live a life of Faith in Him (Believing, Trusting, Obeying). It’s the primary way we know about God and the primary tool the Holy Spirit uses to open our eyes to the Truth! Philippians 3:8 ~ 8 Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. Reading the Bible is just the first step... EVALUATE IT! I grew up in church, I read the Bible. (Hunting) I thought I knew God, but I didn’t, I just knew about Him. And a lot of what I thought was true,wasn’t! I didn’t evaluate or examine what I was reading... I never took a closer look. I didn’t look to see what was being said to the original audience. What it meant to them. How they responded .... It wasn’t REAL to me.... John 17:17 ~ Jesus prayed: Sanctify them (Set them apart, make them holy, approved, acceptable) by the truth; your Word is Truth. God’s Word has God’s Power to bring revelation and transformation to our lives now; And change our destination for eternity!! But you need to read it and evaluate it for yourself! ** I’m not saying God won’t speak to you through His Word TODAY ~ open your eyes to the Truth ~ and change your life here and for eternity in an instant! ** HE CAN AND DOES DO THAT!!! But to experience continued growth and maturity in your faith, to walk in victory over sin and self and Satan ~ you need to Read God’s Wordand Evaluate God’s Word for yourself... but it’s more than that.... To make God’s Word REAL in your life... You’ve got to APPLY IT to your life! But How??? My prayer today is that you leave with both Practical and Personal toolsto APPLY scripture to your life through the power of the Holy Spirit, that bring glory to God and advances His kingdom in and through you! The Bible is a book about God, It all points to JESUS, it’s not a book about us. Yet Paul say everything in the Bible was written FOR us: Romans 15:4 niv ~ For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scripturesand the encouragement they provide we might have hope. How can the Bible be about God and yet be written to teach us? As David Powlison explains, The Bible was written to others—but speaks to you. The Bible is about God—but draws you in. Your challenge is always to reapply Scripture afresh, because God’s purpose is always to rescript your life. Scripture flips the script! Do you realize your life part of a bigger story? You’re part of God’s story! But are you following HIS script (HIS DESIGN) for your life? Satan wants you to follow him to your destruction... God is calling you to follow His script ~ His plan for your life ~ to an eternity with HIM that beings when you ...
