The Miracle of Christmas. It’s really sad that so many people have made Christmas a “Cultural” Holiday when the reason for the Season is Jesus! [90% of American’s celebrate Christmas but only 46% celebrate as a Religious Holiday.] It’s HIS Birthday but He’s not invited… He’s not acknowledged, He’s not part of the celebration. Is that not Crazy! Jesus IS the REASON for the SEASON… HE is the reason we Celebrate… The Birth of Jesus is what we celebrate, however, Christmas is so much more than that! That’s what we’ve been going through in the last couple of weeks. The Message of Christmas: HOW MUCH GOD LOVES US… John 3:16-17 – “For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. 17 God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him. 1 John 4:9-10 – God showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him. 10 This is real love—not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins. (Love is ACTION… God loved and ACTED) God’s love is… Incomprehensible… it’s overwhelming! It’s an Extravagant, Extreme, Lavish Love… NO one has ever loved you, cared for you and wanted you more than God the Father and the Son! His love never Changes. He doesn’t stop loving us… His Love isn’t based on what we do or don’t do. I can’t do anything to make Him love me more or anything to make Him love me less. His love is based on the Character and Nature of God Himself! His love is Selfless and Sacrificial! Jesus (God Himself) willingly left His Throne to come to earth as a human, live, suffer and die so we could be made right with God the Father! Not because we were good or did anything deserving of that… no, while we were sinners God did that! His love can’t be earned! It was freely given and given to Everyone! Everyone has access to His love. The only barrier is us. Then there’s the Method of Christmas: God Himself in Jesus Christ came to Rescue, Redeem and Restore Man to the Relationship with God the Father! Colossians 1:19-20 - For God in all his fullness was pleased to live in Christ, 20 and through him God reconciled everything to himself. He made peace with everything in heaven and on earth by means of Christ’s blood on the cross. 2 Corinthians 5:21 - 21 For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, (or to become sin itself) so that we could be made right with God through Christ. Look at the person next to you. Tell them, you’re infected! We’re all INFECTED! We were infected the day we were born. Because of Adam and Eve’s decision to disobey God, everyone born of Adam and Eve (All of us!) are infected with SIN and we have a SINFUL nature! Isaiah 64:6 - We are all infected and impure with sin. When we display our righteous deeds, they are nothing but filthy rags. Isaiah 59:2 - It’s your sins that have cut you off from God. Because of your sins, he has turned away and will not listen anymore. Romans 3:23 – 3 For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. Why is the Method so important… * No one else could fulfill the Promise of God but God. * Our Sin separates us from God and only God can restore the relationship? Man can’t!
