Fertile Ground Last week JD finished up 2nd Peter / Peter Sermon Series started back in January! Key scripture was 2 Peter 3:18 ~ But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Growing in the Grace and the Knowledge of Jesus are both experiential in nature! Our life in Jesus is a Transformational Relationship with the One that spoke everything into existence out of nothing! Growth isn’t an option for a Christian! If the Holy Spirit of God lives in you, Growth and Maturity is simply our Responding to Truth as it’s revealed by the Holy Spirit of God. Repentance and Holiness (demonstrated through Obedience) will be the hallmarks of our lives - as we walk by faith and are transformed into the image of Christ! Practically, it plays out as described in Acts 2:42 ~ They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Do that in community (doing life together), and Honor God in your circumstances! See how God will use that to transform your life to fulfill His purposes in and through you! We’re between sermon series and I’d been praying through what God would have me preach on today. Jotted down a few notes as I felt God was leading me. Faith over Fear ~ How does that play out? Faith and Focus and how do they relate to each other? You think about how crazy our world has gotten.... Fear and Division dominate not only the headlines of 2020, ...but the minds of too many believers who claim the name of Jesus as their Lord and Savior! I’ve been thinking about how grateful I am for the Gospel of Grace through Jesus Christ! That we don’t have to walk in fear. Our hope isn’t in this world and its systems, but in Jesus... Our hope, our heart and our home, that place of rest and peace, are all found in JESUS! This big blue marble we live on – it’s not our home... We are legal aliens with a temporary visa, working for our Father in heaven to advance his kingdom on earth! When our time is done here we are going HOME! So, IF we really believe that.... Why do we let the difficulties of this world draw us away from our REAL lives in Jesus? Col 3:4 ~ When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory. What is it that we’re putting our faith and focus on that is taking Jesus off of his rightful place on the throne of our lives? I believe this is drilling down to it right here: How can we, as believers, keep our focus on the ONE that KEEPS US, … that holds us in the dark nights of our trials and brings us into the light of His Love and His Grace? That’s the FERTILE GROUND where faith can flourish! Keeping our focus on JESUS! What’s fertile ground look like: It’s… When we recognize we can’t, and only HE can! Where obedience to God’s Word flows from our love for Him,instead of an obligation to Him! Where transformation becomes the natural by-product of a vibrant relationship with Jesus and the work of the Holy Spirit! Our faith and our focus are inseparable! Our Focus REVEALS what our Faith is in. What or whom we are Focused on is where we’re looking for Preservation when life is good and Resurrection when life is bad! Money, Family, Job or Jesus. It’s where we find Our Identity! How to keep our focus in the Right Place… Hebrews 12:1-3 ~ Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hindersand the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run withperseverance the race marked out for us,
