I’m Tom Smith.  Here’s what’s happening in mobility news as we ring in 2018. Many SoCal neighborhoods can relate to traffic congestion caused by navigation apps like Waze. Perhaps the extreme action one New Jersey borough is taking could offer a solution. In mid-January the town of Leonia will close 60 of its streets to almost all traffic except from local residents and municipal employees. Anyone else caught using those streets during peak traffic periods will be subject to a $200 fine. Elon Musk confirmed Tesla will add a pick-up truck to its model line-up. In a Twitter response he promised the vehicle will be next on his company’s agenda after the Model-Y. The Model-Y is an SUV scheduled to be on the roads in a couple years from now. The Tesla pick-up is expected to be slightly larger than Ford’s F-150. And speaking of Elon Musk and Tesla, SpaceX is getting closer to the first flight of its highly anticipated Falcon Heavy Rocket. But what does that have to do with Tesla? Musk’s personal red Tesla Roadster is getting the first ride on the rocket. And that’s what’s happening in mobility news. Coming up this week on iDriveSoCal. The completely new 2018 Honda Accord is on showroom floors.  And our very own Clinton Quan picked one up from Rock Honda for a day long test drive.  Get ready for The Professor’s analysis. Clinton Quan: I got to drive the 2018 Honda Accord Touring, which is the top of the line rim from Rock Honda. Everything is brand new, all new design inside out. It's got that fast back slope roof design which you see in a lot of cars now. And it really has a premium feel to it which I think a lot of people will really appreciate. It almost looks like a luxury car. I really got to really push the car and see how well it could handle. There's a number of curves up on Highway 138. And this car, it handles really well, especially for a midsize sedan. Tom: Plus, to say the Hyundai brand has come a long way since entering the US market is truly an understatement.  We sit down with Glendale Hyundai’s owner and general manager Jae Park for the latest Hyundai news.  The details on its new luxury sibling brand Genesis.  And the technology and safety features the line-ups are offering in vehicles right now. Jae Park: You know, like you have Lexus and Toyota. You have Acura and Honda. You have Infiniti and Nissan. And so, if you had to do a comparison, Hyundai would be your Toyota. Genesis would be your upper Lexus brand.
