70-Years of Porsche - Sportscar Together Day Porsche recently marked it’s 70th year on the streets of North America with a special event at The Porsche Experience Center in Carson as well as ancillary events held by the automotive manufacturers Southern California Porsche Dealers. Today's podcast is about and kind of in honor of a big milestone, and that is the 70th birthday of Porsche. And this is a good time to address this one. Clinton Quan: Porsche. Tom Smith: Porsche or Porsche? Clinton Quan: Porsche. Tom Smith: Right? Clinton Quan: Yeah. Tom Smith: I heard somebody say that it's Porsche if you own one. Clinton Quan: Yeah. Tom Smith: But it's Porsche if you don't. Clinton Quan: Okay. That's one way to do it. Tom Smith: Okay. If you talk to a ... And you do. So, what is it? Clinton Quan: It is Porsche. Tom Smith: It is Porsche. Clinton Quan: Yes. Tom Smith: Okay. All right, everybody out there, Porsche, not Porsche. Clinton Quan: Yes. Tom Smith: Sorry. I'll continue to mess it up though. So, the 70th birthday of Porsche was ... See. The 70th birthday of Porsche was celebrated at the ... What is it, in Carson there? Clinton Quan: Yes. In Carson, the Porsche Experience Center. Tom Smith: The Porsche Experience Center, okay. And the Professor was part of that celebration. So, tell us all about it. Clinton Quan: Yeah, this was a a day-long event that started at 8:00, and it ran until 6:00. Tom Smith: Was it invite only or anybody can come? Clinton Quan: No, it's open to the public. Tom Smith: Okay. Clinton Quan: It's $10- Tom Smith: Okay. Clinton Quan: ... for adults. Tom Smith: And did you actually pay or did you go like, "Hey, I'm iDriveSoCal." Clinton Quan: I paid for it. Tom Smith: Wow. Clinton Quan: Yeah, $10 for adults, and it's free for kids. They also had a number of other activities including tours, driving experiences, simulator experiences as well. Tom Smith: Cool. Clinton Quan: However, each one, there was a cost. Tom Smith: An extra? Clinton Quan: Yeah. Tom Smith: All right. Clinton Quan: A fee associated with the activities. Tom Smith: So, this is a 70th birthday. They made it a little special, but basically- Clinton Quan: Yeah. Tom Smith: "Come to our amusement park and pay." Clinton Quan: Yes. Well, they also had live music. So, they set up a tent, a beer and wine garden. They had a barbecue going on. There was a huge kids area with this Jenga, with Jenga and slot car racing.
