The Boys Republic in Chino Hills hosted it’s 11th Annual Friends of Steve McQueen fundraising event and car show the first weekend of June. The event was one of the tops on the list of iDriveSoCal’s Professor’s Awesome Auto Show Month of June! It may be news to you that the school for troubled teens not only hosts one of the biggest and best car shows in Southern California each year – but the show’s namesake comes from one of it’s very own alumni. It's for a great cause, there's a number of vehicles. I've never seen so many green Bullit Mustangs before. Always at the Boys Republic. We are covering, this is the inaugural coverage podcast of the Professor's Awesome Auto Show June. The Professors Awesome Auto Show June. We're excited to bring this month of June and awesome auto shows to you guys. And in this first one that the professor hit, he just shared something with me that I wasn't aware of. And so the first show is the Friends of Steve McQueen Car Show. And the significance of this one, and I did not know this, but most of us know Steve McQueen as the race car driver, movie star, motorcycle guy, Bullit, the chase scene, whatnot. But this event is at the boys' Republic in Chino Hills, which is a school for troubled kids that actually Steve McQueen himself attended. And this is a big annual fundraiser that they do. So, it's all wrapped around entire weekend to raise money for the troubled kids school. But I didn't know that tie in of the event, that was very cool. So professor, sorry to steal the thunder on that one, but I know you're so focused on the cars themselves when you go to these shows oftentimes, that some of the sidebar things that it's about, like, I'm like, dude, really? I didn't know that. That's really cool. So that is a really cool thing. But so, the Friends of Steve McQueen Car Show has been going on for how long? Clinton Quan: This is the 11th year for the Friends of Steve McQueen Car Show. Tom Smith: Okay. And now Steve McQueen, the movie Bullit it's the 50th anniversary. Clinton Quan: Yeah. Tom Smith: So that was the theme of this year's car show? Clinton Quan: Correct. So every year for the Friends of Steve McQueen Car Show, there is a theme, and usually there's a movie that's tied into the car show. Tom Smith: Okay. Clinton Quan: And this year, 2018 is the 50th anniversary of the movie Bullit. And for those of you who have watched the movie Bullit, you know that is one of the greatest car chase scenes of all time. Whether you're talking about a classic movie or a modern movie. Tom Smith: Right. Clinton Quan: And if you look up the best car chase scenes, it doesn't matter what list you look on, that's usually in the top 10, if not the top five. Tom Smith: I think we talked about this before. I definitely have not seen the movie. And because I haven't seen the movie- Clinton Quan: It is a must see, just for the car chase. Tom Smith: Just for the car. Clinton Quan: Yeah, it's that cool. Tom Smith: It's on the to-do list. I'll have to check,
