Tech News and Commentary Our guest this hour: Lawrence Kosick, Co-Founder - GetSetUp Mabsie in Windsor, Ontario listens on AM800 CKLW and asked: "I just bought a new HP laptop. I can't seem to print from it on the Bell network we just had hooked up. We used to have Cogeco. For some reason, it won't go through to my wireless printer and I'm not understanding why. Is my printer too old maybe?" https://media.blubrry.com/into_tomorrow/content.blubrry.com/into_tomorrow/02-19-2021-H1S4.mp3 Mabsie, were you given new network equipment when you switched providers? If you were given a new router, or maybe a modem with a router built in, thats probably the cause. The new device could be blocking ports the printer needs. You dont mention whether this was a printer that connected to the internet or just your home network, but if its home network only, then its most likely just a setting that you need to configure in your new equipment. If the name of your Wi-Fi network changed with your recent provider change, it could just be as simple as updating the wi-fi settings on your printer. If youre still using your old equipment then this is likely a printer that connects to the internet, if thats the case your new ISP could be blocking ports on their end. If they are, theres not much you can do, but thats not very likely to be the case these days given how many smart home devices rely on being able to talk to the internet.
