In his job as the director of the Department of Energy's digital strategies team, Rob Roberts is taking what he learned producing multimedia content for news outlets like USA Today and the Raleigh News & Observer and applying it to the government realm.
"Coming from a journalism environment, we basically run our operation like a news operation, obviously, with a certain slant and a certain bent," Roberts told It's All Journalism producer Michael O'Connell.
Roberts oversees Energy.gov, which offers news features and information for the general public, as well as energy industry professionals.
Like other government websites, Energy.gov faces many of the same challenges traditional news organizations face — covering the news, assembling information and presenting it to diverse audience in a timely fashion.
