Doug Mitchell is a producer, a director and a wearer of may hats at National Public Radio. In 1999, he started helping out NPR interns to become leaders in public broadcasting.
He continues to shepherd young journalists as the co-director of the “New U†Entrepreneur Fellowship Program. This Ford Foundation funded program helps young media professionals of color develop startups and find backers for their businesses.
"There's mentoring, there's coaching, with an idea of what media is going to be in the future," he said.
Mitchell spoke to It's All Journalism producers Anna Miars and Michael O'Connell about diversity in the newsroom, New U and his efforts to help foster entrepreneurship in the next generation of media professionals.
