Athlete Wellness | Life After Sport

In this episode of the Athlete Wellness podcast series, Sarah Meister and Lilly Wehman discuss what it is like to transition away from college sports. They focus on how your athletic identity continues in your everyday life. They also touch on how to harness your athletic attributes and use them to your advantage in your next stage of life. It takes a conscious effort to recognize that you’re allowed to operate in a space that is not measured by an all-or-nothing mentality. It’s about giving yourself permission to be okay with things being and feeling different. It’s a massive shift that will take time. Give yourself grace during the transition period of life after sport while focusing on being intentional with your time and curious about discovering a new driving purpose that aligns with yourself.

About Millennium Athlete Wellness:

We have a unique approach to mental health for athletes. While many people focus on performance, we look to help athletes at all levels improve their mental health and overall wellness. Our therapeutic approach ensures every athlete we work with is connected to a licensed counselor, many of whom have been Division 1 athletes. This allows us to understand what athletes are going through because we know how the brain works and the world of athletics. We’ve been there. And we want to help. We are the Athlete Wellness Division of Millennium Counseling Center.
