Jesus was a masterful storyteller. In fact, approximately one-third of the words of Jesus recorded in the Bible were stories. These stories are called parables – he used familiar illustrations to reveal deeper revelations. They shine a light on God’s character, change our perspective, and give us practical direction. Paul is preaching from the text in Matthew 18:21-35 Jesus tells the story of a servant who was forgiven by the king of a huge debt he owed, yet couldn’t forgive a fellow servant who owed him less that his huge debt.
