JAMES | Part 2: What Pressure Reveals | Paul Dennison

What does pressure reveal about you?

In James 1:9–18, James shows us that pressure reveals where we find our worth, how we respond to trials, which desires are controlling us, and what we truly believe about God.

In this message, Paul explores:

• Why our circumstances do not determine our worth

• The difference between a test and a temptation

• How temptation develops from desire to death

• How to recognise the bait and the hidden hook

• Why our desires must be governed by God

• How God provides a way out of temptation

• Why God’s goodness is greater than sin’s promise

James encountered the risen Jesus and declared that his whole life belonged to him. The question for us is: will we do the same?

When pressure rises, pause before reacting and pray:

“Father, show me what this pressure is revealing in me. Show me the way out of temptation. Reorder my desires, and help me trust what is true about you.”

The Father is good.

The Father does not change.

And in Christ, the Father gives life.
