Dr. Shai Tubali - Humanity’s Unexpected, Yet Increasingly Urgent Identity Crisis in the Age of AI - Ep. 3166

Bernadette Fiaschetti speaks with Dr. Shai Tubali about the effects AI is having on humanity. Has AI created humanity’s identity crisis, or simply exposed it? And, how have we normalized “machine-like thinking”?

DR. SHAI TUBALI is a philosopher, researcher, and public intellectual whose work stands at the intersection of consciousness studies, philosophy of AI, and the question of what it means to be fully human.

He holds a PhD in philosophy from the University of Leeds, where his subsequent postdoctoral fellowship, centered on Jiddu Krishnamurti\'s alarming question about AI and the human being, became the seed of the Essence of Humanity project.

He is currently a doctoral researcher at the UCL Institute of Education, where his project, supported by UNESCO, develops the Atlas of Human Capacities in the Age of AI, the first rigorously researched, cross-cultural framework of the human capacities most at risk of erosion in an AI-saturated world.

He is the author of more than twenty books translated into thirteen languages and the creator of the Big Think series How Not to Become Like AI.

Through the Alaya Foundation, co-founded with entrepreneur Jose Neves, he leads the Essence of Humanity initiative, a research project, educational programme, and global knowledge hub dedicated to cultivating the depths of human consciousness that no machine can reach.
