Alma Bruffy of www.almab.photography is a Florida based photographer who has been working in the photography industry for over a decade and went full time 12 months ago after relocating. Alma started professionally in an apprenticeship role back in 2007 for Beach Portraits Photography based out of Wilmington, NC. Before recently moving to Southwest Florida where she had to start over not knowing a soul. She says, “it's been challenging but prosperity is not too far away.” Her largest source of income comes from family wall portraits but Alma shoots personal branding, headshots and weddings in addition to the family sessions. An environmental disaster in Southwest Florida last year greatly affected her business, which is why Alma started photographing indoors in a small studio and focusing on headshots. This interview explores the ups and downs of being a professional photographer and having to adapt to changes to stay afloat in a tough market.
