BEFORE THE BILLIONS OF STREAMS, THERE WAS A STOP SIGN IN AGOURA HILLS.
Before Hoobastank became one of the defining bands of early-2000s rock, Doug Robb and his bandmates were making flyers at Kinko's and taping them to stop signs, hoping somebody would show up to their next gig. And Adam Montiel remembers those signs because he went to Agoura High School with them. Now, 25 years after their self-titled debut album, Hoobastank is returning to Hollywood's legendary Roxy Theatre on November 20th to play that record in its entirety, alongside longtime friends Audiovent. And this isn't just any venue. It's the first Hollywood club Hoobastank ever played.
In a reunion that's equal parts rock history, hometown nostalgia, and beautifully unexpected perspective, Adam and Doug revisit the Agoura Hills music scene that also gave us Linkin Park and Incubus, including a priceless story about Mike Shinoda hanging out at backyard shows before anybody was famous. Doug opens up about what he misses most about his younger self, why the Roxy performance feels more like a class reunion than a concert, and the almost overwhelming realization that "The Reason" now holds millions of memories that aren't his own. Plus, with new music out in "How Do You Sleep?," it's clear Hoobastank isn't just looking back. Sometimes the most extraordinary journeys lead you right back to where you started.
