REINVENTING BOARD MEETINGS

// reference // Board Meetings Co-Founder, Jim Sheils, is passionate about… well, pretty much exactly what you’d expect him to be passionate about. He believes in strong families and quality time. He believes in entrepreneurship — both practicing it and teaching it to kids. He believes in personal development and a confidence mindset. He believes in service-orientation and energetic health. Oh, and he loves to surf. Each of these passions has found a home in Board Meetings International. When not writing and running retreats with Board Meetings, Jim co-owns and manages a large real estate portfolio. But, at 6 o’clock every night (thanks to his wife Jamie’s love and guidance), he shuts down his entrepreneurial mind, turns off the phone, and become a full time dad to his two sons, Alden (12) and Leland (10), and his baby daughter, Maggie (1). Of all the incredible experiences in his life (world travel, speaking to thousands from stage, making and losing millions, and enormous personal development) it has been his family life that has been most impactful. Meeting and falling in love with Jamie was life-altering for many reasons. For one, Jim learned what it meant to serve the one you love. In addition, along with falling in love with Jamie, Jim fell in love with adopted two beautiful boys (Alden and Leland), and then the couple had a daughter, Maggie. Jim writes beautifully of the experience of becoming a father to all three of his kids here. Another impactful family experience: A couple of years back, Jim’s dad was dying from kidney failure. The solution: gift his dad one of his own kidneys. It literally saved his dad’s life and gave Jim a new lease on life at the same time. The lesson: there is nothing more important than family and relationships and we are here on this earth to give away our gifts in service of loved ones and strangers alike. All of these moments have taught Jim the meaning of life. Board Meetings International is a powerful expression of this meaning. // end reference // TUNE IN to this episode to hear Jim chat with Steve and Mary about quality time, family board meetings and the importance of one-on-one time.
