Internet of Things to Internet of Everything

Prof. L. Alfredo Grieco, author of more than 100 scientific papers published in international journals, Editor in Chief of the Transactions on Emerging Telecommunications Technologies (Wiley) and Associate Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Vehicular, participates in Risk Roundup with Jayshree Pandya to discuss “Internet of Things (IoT) to Internet of Everything (IoE)”. Overview Along with the ever-changing definition, nature and objectives of computers, the continued evolution toward cheaper processors and faster networks has enabled a shift from desktop workstations to laptops, tablets, smart phones, to everyday connected objects, called “Internet of Things” (IoT) and now towards “Internet of Everything” (IOE). Due to the rapid evolution towards Internet of Everything (IoE) there is a growing excitement that it will bring nations “the next Industrial Revolution” because of the way it will change the way, we the people, will live, work, entertain, shop, and travel, as well as how nations: its government, industries, organizations, and academia (NGIOA) will interact with each other within and across nations in cyberspace, geospace and space (CGS). When physical objects in geospace and space become embedded with sensors and gain the ability to communicate through cyberspace, the new information and communication networks fundamentally changes the way each NGIOA operates and does things in CGS. We the humans now live in a time where the value and competitiveness of individuals and entities across NGIOA can be enhanced significantly as they take a step forward to take advantage of these new innovative capabilities to get the most value from IoT and IoE devices and the data it generates. As decision makers across NGIOA see the vast potential of the IoE ecosystem, they are identifying new growth opportunities by adding digital services and innovations to their current product /service mix and capitalize on the opportunity to sell new digital offerings. We have reached a time where, those NGIOA that hesitate to benefit from the advances of Digital Global Age could be quickly outsmarted by existing and emerging competitors. Time is now to talk about Internet of Things to Internet of Everything. To watch or listen Prof. L. Alfredo Grieco discuss “Internet of Things (IoT) to Internet of Everything (IoE)”, please watch the video or hear the audio podcast. Risk Roundup: video/audio podcasts are available on Risk Group Website, YouTube, iTunes, Google Play, Stitcher Radio, Android, and Risk Group Professional Social Media and Risk Group networks. About the Guest L. Alfredo Grieco received the Dr. Eng. degree (with honors) in electronic engineering from “Politecnico di Bari,” Bari, Italy, in October 1999 and the Ph.D. degree in information engineering from “Università di Lecce,” Lecce, Italy, on December 2003. From January 2005 to October 2014, he held an Assistant Professor position at the “Dipartimento di Ingegneria Elettrica e dell’Informazione, Politecnico di Bari”. From March to June 2009, he has been a Visiting Researcher with INRIA (Planete Project, Sophia Antipolis, France), working on the topic of Internet measurements. From October to November 2013, he has been a Visiting Researcher with LAAS-CNRS (Toulouse, France) working on Information Centric Networking design of M2M systems. From November 2014,
