Episode 89: Questions to Ask Yourself After a Bad Coaching Experience Between Mentor & Mentee

When a business owner makes the investment in their business to bring on a coach or mentor, there are a lot of expectations that are set (with or without acknowledgment from both parties). Unfortunately, there are times when that investment doesn’t go well for the mentee.

If you’ve encountered this unfortunate event as either the mentor or the mentee, let’s talk about three questions you should be asking yourself in either position!

Questions to Ask as the Mentee Who is Unhappy with Investment (2:16)

  • Are you being coachable? (2:35)
  • Are you showing up? Are you holding up your end of the deal? (4:43)
  • If you are not seeing the results you want or getting what you think you need, have you expressed it to your coach or mentor? Have you requested a call or send any thoughts over? (5:57)

Questions to Ask as a Mentor Who’s Client is Unhappy with Investment (8:25)

  • Did you let them fall between the cracks? Is that a possibility? (8:59)
  • Did you ask them for feedback? (9:48)
  • Did you notice something was off (which is common and okay, but then what did you do? Did you reach out or give them ample opportunity to work with you? (10:25)
