Christians Need to be Better Than This

In 2 Corinthians 4:4, the Apostle Paul states that the "god" of this world has blinded the minds of unbelievers to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel and glory of Jesus Christ. In Matthew 5:14, Jesus said we are to be the light of the world as His disciples. Light is most needed when darkness is thickest. It can certainly be argued that our nation is in its darkest period, spiritually and morally. And the "light" that is being proposed by most is not Jesus Christ--it is Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton. Government is not the answer and politics is something we should be involved in without being obsessive, angry, or overwhelmed. As Christians we must be better than this. We must rise above human arguments and reasoning and take our thoughts and passions captive to obedience of Jesus Christ. Every four years we hear that this next election is the most important in the history of our nation, but don't elections reveal the true condition of the American people? This morning we ask this question: Which is more important: Who our next president is, or how we respond as Christians regardless of who that President is?
