Cliff’s Notes Christianity?

Some of our more seasoned listeners might remember "Cliff's Notes." Every high school student who didn't like to read or study could depend on them to give us enough information about a book to pass a test, but it robbed us of the richness of understanding the lessons an author wanted to share in his or her book. We sacrificed understanding and wisdom for mere knowledge - or just to pass a test. The growing crisis of biblical illiteracy in Evangelical Christianity has been well documented in many studies by Christian Research firms. Some professing Christians just don't take the time to read the Bible--while others read it but do not take the time to study or understand the depth of its wisdom and application. Just how bad has the problem become and what can we do about it? Dr. Gary Gilley joins us to discuss the crisis of watered-down doctrine that is having huge eternal consequences for those who profess to be Christians and others who are being robbed of the whole gospel.
