A Lost Generation?

If you listen to the news or read the latest polls you would get the impression that every person in the Millennial generation is a lost and restless soul, completely opposing God, His Word, and conservative principles; that they are convinced that Marxist Socialism is the only hope for our nation. But is that really the case? Certainly this generation faces enormous challenges as public education and media have succeeded at indoctrinating many of them into a secular humanist world view. And this generation of younger people will one day lead our nation and our churches; some already are! So how can we help them turn (back) to God instead of away from Him? Religion and Culture expert, Dr. Alex McFarland joins us today to discuss this and share some thought from his new book Abandoned Faith: Why Millennials are Walking Away and How You Can Lead Them Home. We also touch on how millennials are handling the fact Donald Trump is our new president and how they've been told America is doomed - for four years anyway. Millennials (those born between 1980 and 2000) constitute a group of over 80 million individuals who are technologically astute, ethnically diverse, and culturally and vibrantly engaged. Yet they face high unemployment and massive debt, and they comprise the largest number of religiously unaffiliated individuals in American history. Concerned by these and other hard-hitting facts, experts Alex McFarland and Jason Jimenez have created a book that interviews top Christian leaders who work with Millennials and families. Their research and conversations will shed new light on what Christian parents must do to reach their young adult children. This book offers a strong voice of hope for parents, church leaders, and others who serve the Millennial generation. According to Pew Research Center, 23% of millennials call themselves "nones" or not affiliated with any religion or faith.
