Headlines: Trusting, Without Knowing
On today’s news cycle podcast, Tim and Mary look at all the things that seem to be cascading at once – American elections, Israeli election results and the current hostility toward the Jewish state; governments around the world urging people to stockpile basics, Iran, the global economy. How much more can we even watch, let alone comprehend? The world is tense – and the worldly answer to attempting to exercise a modicum of control isn’t to just let things play out, or even to trust God with it all; the answer seems to be just place your bets on anything and everything and come out on top. But for the believer, we trust, often knowing nothing. Win, lose or draw – and when things go sideways as well – we trust a God Who is not surprised by anything, and urge and exhort others to do so too. His ways are not our ways, and we should be grateful for that because humans ruin everything they touch. So even if we know the electoral outcomes, we still really don’t know anything, except that He is on the throne. A full hour of staying alert, armed with hope and brimming with cheer.
