Olivier Melnick: Israel’s Long Night and the Coming Day
Mary welcomes back Olivier Melnick on this eve the 3rd anniversary of the October 7 attacks. What has transpired in that time, what have we learned? Some of it is just so grievous, in the case of antisemitism. Weeping for the night (Psalm 30:5) surely describes the scars on the the people over time – but joy in the morning – we often look at this through a far more temporal lens, the short view of day and night and our smaller trials but there is something much bigger in view here: Israel’s long night of struggle and the dawn of redemption. We talk about Hamas and their agenda, and Europe and their agenda. None of it pro-Israel, of course. And yet as we see the Day approaching, the Bright and Morning Star surely promised, let’s hold fast our confession of the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, and press on in truth about Israel from God’s perspective.
