There has been an evolution in communications as well as in open source. This evolution has brought open source, which was at arm’s length from commercial products, to what now seems to be a very cooperative relationship. Chris King, Senior Director of Product Marketing at Oracle Communications, discusses the evolution and open source and the maturation of the cloud. With the maturation of the cloud and the associated standards, enterprise which was reluctant to move to the cloud, now sees that the path is paved. Investments that are now made will not be at risk. It is well established that certain technology will save money and provided flexibility to respond to the demands of customers that may come in burst mode. In order to support the demand, SDN and NFV architectures need to be involved to automatically respond reliably. You will also hear what impediments may still exist for enterprise moving to the cloud. The first day of Oracle Industry Connect has been very successful with thousands of participants as well as speakers from the major companies from around the world. I have attended a number of sessions and have learned a great deal about Oracle solutions and how they have advantages over other solutions in the industry. Listen in to hear some of them. With more than 420,000 customers and deployments in more than 145 countries, Oracle offers a comprehensive and fully integrated stack of cloud applications, platform services, and engineered systems.
