Lisa Park, Assistant Vice President - Connectivity Product Management & Channel Enablement at AT&T Internet of Things Solutions, indicated to me, Don Witt of The Channel Daily News, a TR publication, that the problem of locating tools that I cannot find when I am working on a project is an asset management issue that is easily solved by the Internet of Things. Asset management would answer questions like: Where is my stuff How is my stuff doing What the temperature is It also provides the ability to track, trace and monitor assets. Many assets need special treatment and IoT can let you know when maintenance is required or when an asset needs to be replaced. In addition to asset management, the AT&T IoT Solutions organization is also involved in Vehicle Solutions, Smart Cities and Healthcare. At channel partners, there were a number of cars that we connected to the internet.  As Lisa points out, there will be significantly more growth in this area.  The vehicle will provide WiFi to passengers and also be connect via cellular to enable emergency 911 calls but to also monitor: Location Fuel Consumption Oil temperature Generator operation Light system functioning and more IoT is an industry that is in the very early stages of innovation.  There is money to be made by anyone who wants to improve an operational task or lifestyle. If you are a small 1 or 2 person start up or a large enterprise, Lisa’s group would like you to get a starter kit and help develop the next generation of products.  It is a new frontier and there is plenty of opportunity.
