Recently, Flowroute announced expanded messaging functionality with MMS. “We can MMS enable to a 1-800 number,” says Dave Rich, vice president of products at Flowroute. An application of Short message service, SMS, will be a small message or notification, usually conveying one simple idea such as an order being ready. Enabling MMS opens up a range of possibilities. With MMS, an insurance customer, for example, could send photos of an accident right from a mobile device to the insurance company’s 1-800 number for claims. MMS opens up news possibilities to engage customers, enabling things such as boarding passes tickets or coupons to be sent. In this podcast, Rich reviews the vital business case for deploying MMS, given that MMS messages are very likely to be opened and read vs, email which today is more likely to be deleted before being opened. “Basically, customers are texting, says Rich. “And we always have to ask, are you listening?” In this podcast Rich makes the case to not ignore the many use cases of MMS. Rich also points out the need to get past one way experiences for customers at corporate websites. Rich believes that not getting on boards means lost business.
