Segment 3 - Mayor Francis Slay & Cuts Of The Week

- Mayor Francis Slay joins the program to talk Q in the Lou as well as update on Rams stadium issues. Huge event coming to the Lou with the best BBQ in the nation. Pit masters from around the country starting this evening and going through Sunday to range their profile. KC gets all the credit for BBQ in the midwest. It’s about the family fun and go from booth to booth to try the BBQ. This is at Soldiers Memorial all weekend. Progress of task force? Making great progress with turning heads in St Louis. We are a football town and we have a strong fan base. We love football in Saint Louis. Only 32 cities can sat they have a football team. It has a lot to do with image and saying we have one here. Putting together a plan and finalizing financial components and we feel good about our chances. Feel good about going to board with what they have. What does it mean to be one of the 32? Tangible and intangible; image, prestige, quality of life, people enjoy watching professional sports and football is one of the greatest. There is no stronger fanbase anywhere for baseball then st louis, but we have a great fan base for football. If we are losing them, we are losing another team.Not just a good place for business but a place for people to enojy. The stadium will revitalize our river front and free up space in the dome and give us more of an opportunity. From on economic standpoint, people come to watch the games and pay for things whether its parking or food. There has been a lot of strides made downtown. what happens to downtown 5 months of the year? Vibrancy is related heavily to anchors. A new statement will help us revitalize an area that hasn’t seen anything in decades. He is not aware of any discussions with the Rams. With what is going to happen with the Rams and the new stadium, he is not aware of what will happen.Task force is making great progress. If plans were started earlier? We did not drag our feet on anything. there was a process. there wasn't any communication between the team and the mayors team. This started along time ago. They had to be in the right place and has to be well thought out before presenting it to the public. Decision had to be made and they want to keep the Rams here. They have done everything they can to try and keep the Rams here. They can always say they should have done it sooner but there is 10 years left on the lease but it can be sooner because of the arbitration. How much faith do you have in the NFl? You want a team some how, thoughts? They have been helpful on ideas of how to keep there team here. The NFL would like the team to stay here and do not like the idea of moving around. The NFL likes the STL market. In the event of the rams leaving, they want to be poised with another franchise team. Bradshaw opinion? I have not been told any of that at all. There are a lot of pieces and dynamics to what is happening. From his standpoint, he doesn't dwell on when people say they are leaving. Crank has made it clear he does not want to behave. how do you welcome him back? We look at it as our team. If Kronke wants to move and does not want to own a team in St Louis, he can figure out a way to go some place else himself and he does have the opportunity to sell the team to someone else. We want to do what we can do and nothing more. We want to the tell the world and the NFL we want to keep the Rams in St Louis. Lobby ownership group? Leaves that to peacock and blitz who respecting the NFL. We are going todo all we can to keep the Rams here with an outstanding proposal. Brighten our riverfront, amazing anchor for new businesses, free up space at the dome. Uber is important for many reasons and we need Uber sooner then later. There is a demand for it and we are the only major metropolitan area that does not have it and the demand is high. It is coming.
