Seg. 2: Corey Hirsch

Former Blues goaltending coach and current NHL analyst, Corey Hirsch, joined The Press Box on Monday to give his thoughts on the current Blues netminding situation following consecutive wins by back-up goalie Carter Hutton. Kelly Chase talks Blues’ back-to-back wins, goalie situation Read a couple excerpts and listen to the interview below (starts about the 5:10 mark): Would you let Carter Hutton get another start Tuesday night? “I would give Jake a little bit of a break here. They’re doing it right. Every goalie goes through ups and downs. This isn’t anything to panic about. This is a time to just let him sit back and catch his breath. It’s time for him just to take a little break. He’s such a good person. He’s really a passionate athlete about winning and his teammates.” What are you seeing wrong with Jake Allen right now? “I see is that he’s got a lot of movement in his game right now. I’d like to see him simplify it a little more. He’s a good goalie, a good athlete. He’ll figure it out. It’s important he gets back to what got him to the NHL and what made him good. He’s changed his game a little bit, I don’t know why. That’s something him and his goalie coach can work out.”
