Blues legend Bernie Federko joined The Press Box to give his thoughts on the Blues’ current roster and if he thinks they can build upon winning back-to-back road games for the first all season. He also discussed the legacy of Bobby Plager, who will soon have his number retired by the Blues. Read a couple excerpts and listen to the complete interview below. On Carter Hutton getting another start in net: “Yes, it’s the right move right now. They’re riding the hot goaltender. Jake (Allen) has had some troubles and needs to work himself out of it. He just needs to get his head set and get back to being the goalie he is. Right now you’re riding a hot hand. Carter played (well the last two games). I think…there’s no reason not to throw Carter in. But I don’t think there’s any doubt in anyone’s mind Jake Allen is still the No. 1 goaltender on this team…He’ll be back in goal and playing the majority (once he regains his confidence).” RELATED: Ex-Blues goalie McLennan: Hutton “maximizing” opportunity On the Blues switching the defensive pairings and putting Parayko together with Pietrangelo: “It’s been interesting. Coaches do this on all the teams throughout the course of the year. Things weren’t going well (and now Parayko has scored a couple goals). I think a change gives you a new perspective, a little different look on the ice. He’s handled it well. They’ve won a couple games in a row, so there’s no reason to change. But (Hitchcock won’t hesitate to make more changes if things start to go bad).”
