Cusumano announces MLS' All-Star promise on "The Press Box"

Major League Soccer has promised St. Louis an MLS All-Star Game within five years of its inaugural season if the city is successful in building a soccer-specific stadium and granted an expansion franchise, according to a letter obtained by “The Press Box” host and KSDK Sports Director Frank Cusumano. Cusumano announced the news during Wednesday’s edition of “The Press Box.” Related: Cusumano announces MLS’ All-Star promise on “The Press Box” The letter, dated January 10, was sent by MLS President and Deputy Commissioner Mark Abbott to SC STL Chairman Paul Edgerly. In addition to the MLS All-Star Game, the letter states the league would also work with the U.S. Soccer Federation and CONCACAF “in order to place high-profile international matches in St. Louis.” “We firmly believe SC STL is the ideal ownership group to provide St. Louis the best opportunity for a future expansion team,” Abbott writes.
