Fellow Writers’ Block co-host and Cardinals beat writer Derrick Goold details the constant issues affecting the Redbirds this season. At one point, Goold gives his reaction to John Mozeliak’s comments on “The Morning After” that perhaps the Cardinals’ roster is a little too flexible. “He sees a lot of what everybody sees. (Matheny) moves guys around. It all started with Jhonny Peralta getting injured in Spring Training, then they give it to Ruben Tejada. Then he gets hurt and Aledmys Diaz takes off. That led to a lot of maneuvering around Diaz, and guys playing out of position. In a lot of ways, this team’s strengths of flexibility has also put a lower ceiling on it. It puts a big onus on the manager (to keep guys sharp and balancing the line-ups to make sure everyone’s getting playing time).”
