The Times They Are A Changin’

In 1964, Bob Dylan penned the song, The Times They Are A Changin’. Dylan wanted to express an anthem of change for the time period that we were in. You read the lyrics, and you’ll begin to see that Dylan could have written the song last week. As we know, the more things change, the more they stay the same. Come gather 'round people Wherever you roam And admit that the waters Around you have grown And accept it that soon You'll be drenched to the bone If your time to you Is worth savin' Then you better start swimmin' Or you'll sink like a stone For the times they are a-changin'. History always leaves us with a record of tales that we don't understand of political issues in the distant past. We call them "fairy tales" and read them to our little children but, if we understood the true meaning of some of those "fairy tales," we would be horrified and very, very hesitant about revealing the truths to our little ankle biters. Some would scare the hell out of 'em! The fairy tales we grew up with reveal, in code actually, some of the worst periods of medieval Europe. While we were enchanted by the little books that told us about Mother Goose, (population control), Hansel and Gretel (starvation and infanticide), Jack and the Bean Stock (sloth and idleness) and King Midas (avarice and greed), how will the history of our times be depicted, as fairy tales or horror stories and who will write them? How would we as adults, explain to our children and grandchildren the future fairy tales that would define today?! Here is a most interesting look at the times. Buckle up and take a ride with Malcolm...
