Tariq Ali on the Forty-Year War in Afghanistan

For today’s show, Thursday host Allen Ruff is joined by historian and public intellectual Tariq Ali to discuss the latest in world politics and his new essay collection, The Forty-Year War in Afghanistan.

Tariq Ali is a political activist, journalist, historian, novelist, and filmmaker based in London. He is a longstanding member of the editorial committee of the New Left Review and has written more than two dozen books on world history and politics, most recently Uprising in Pakistan: How to Bring Down a Dictatorship (Verso, 2018) and The Forty-Year War in Afghanistan: A Chronicle Foretold (Verso, 2021).
