DaMaris B. Hill is associate professor of creative writing, English, and African American and Africana studies at the University of Kentucky. She is the author of A Bound Woman Is a Dangerous Thing: The Incarceration of African American Women from Harriet Tubman to Sandra Bland (Bloomsbury, 2019) and Breath Better Spent: Living Black Girlhood (Bloomsbury, 2022).
