Episodes

To me, perhaps not the best of the Elm Street series, but the most likable cast.

A silly horror-themed film with little going for it. Listen in for the laughs.

If its summertime, then its Jaws! A true classic which is always there to lurk in the back of your mind as you wade into the salt water.

This week’s featured film The Mean Season is very obscure, and not particularly distinguished. Yet, Ben has seen it well over 30 times. Listen and find out why!

A drastic changeup on this week’s show as a newer movie from this century is reviewed and there is one less host

Not many people have been known to enjoy this movie, and no one has ever called it intelligent. However there may be a hint of brainless summertime fun here.

The most fun movie in the “of the Living Dead” series. This is a continuation of sorts from last week’s episode featuring a discussion about Tom Savini and the makeup effects that went in to the series.

This week the podcast changes form in order to discuss a random encounter with horror special effects legend and film director Tom Savini at the Pittsburgh airport!

A favorite that is watched annually during graduation season. Ben and Adrienne explore a few inconsistencies, weird array of characters and why this is on a “must watch” list.

Not the best entry in the “of the Dead” series, but definitely provides lots to talk about.

The show breaks away from the horror norm with this sci-fi classic

An early-era slasher movie with a much 1980-dated look. Listen in to see how this movie holds up today.

An up-tempo, fast-paced episode this week covering a variety of topics. The characters of NOES 3 are explored. Ben isnt thrilled with Nancy returning, but Adrienne ponders why he cries once Freddy gets her.

More of a “fun” movie as opposed to horror, but the duo go through and make their observations…especially on some unintentional humor.

This one is remembered for being disgusting as it was funny. Some recollection of what made me want to see it, and some Monster Mania Con conversation.

A pioneer of the early 80’s 3D slasher phenomenon. Listen in to hear some commentary on the various characters portrayed and a review on the technology used in the film.

Ben’s favorite Friday! A quick recap on last week’s episode and then some details about why this one stands out among the others.

After 2 weeks of silence, the show is back with a “BUZZ” in a double-length episode. We talk TCM with a special guest who named this his favorite horror movie. Should all the characters of TCM have been massacred? Or should Sally have been allowed to slip through Leatherface’s grip as the “chicken nuggets” that got away. Hear the debate, followed by some parallels to real-life sickos such as Gein, Dahmer and Buffalo Bill.

Ben takes a severely critical stance towards last week’s show, and promises to do better starting now with New Year’s Evil.

The first Halloween series appearance on this podcast! Some gripes, likes/dislikes ranging from the “taller” Michael Myers to too much green leaves. Some recollection about how the host was able to see this movie. Also…a “real life” Michael Myers sighting.

A little late on this holiday-themed release, but nonetheless the review is in. Not a favorite among the duo, but a concise summary on this-low budget British film with some commentary as to what actually is a British movie and are they all terrible? Ben and Adrienne also reflect on their New Year’s Eve activities which are now weeks in the past.

Jaws is back and sustains an interesting facial burn, prompting your host to label him the “Freddy” shark. Join in for a lively discussion of Sheriff Brody’s paranoid antics in-between shark bites, followed by some Stranger Things Season 5 chat.

In this week’s show, things seem to go off the rails at times in just the 2nd episode as Ben and Adrienne grapple with understanding the message behind the movie and ultimately give up on trying to figure it out.

In the debut episode of Not Your Average Horror Show, your host Ben and his sister Adrienne are introduced and ready to discuss the first entry in their podcast; a review of Nightmare on Elm Street. This is followed by some current event discussion and a brief recollection of favorite scenes from Death Wish 3.
